how do you get 9.6 mpg in a Miata? Just leave it idling, or the worst traffic jam ever and a small fill-up?

How does this thing not get driven? My miata is the funnest car i have ever driven (list includes 911, m3, m5, 500E, m coupe, z8)

Where are the real car guys? What happened?

Nearly one month later Project Miata still listed as MIA. Hope is quickly slipping as rescuers start preparing to call off SAR operations.

Two months later SAR operations have been called off due to lack of success and the impending snow-aggedon hitting the area. Project Miata is gone and dead by all accounts.

yep, no mileage update for November or December, probably because it's been sitting unused in the garage. It has to consume some gas and get filled to determine mpg. I've pretty much given up on this long termer, too. And waiting for wrap-ups for a number of cars that silently moved from Current to Past long term lists.

I've had a 2001 and my current 2007 miata (MX5). The poorest MPG I can recall was 24 or 25... How does one get 9....Is there a leak in the tank?
