It's only my opinion, and I know that they may not be at this level, but the luxury brands seem to be pushing the boundaries with their designs in reaction the success that Cadillac has had with their design language in the past decade. The CTS coupe mainly. Lexus' IS coupe too. Love it or hate it, the CTS coupe pushed the boundaries at the time when most everything was predictable and nice, but not edgy in the least.

@frank908, you really think Mercedes just came up with this concept/design within the last few years? Be realistic. These designs take years to come to fruition, many years before Cadillac and especially the RC designs ever even made it to the public ey

@dfelix70: Yes, I do. And your opinion, that has no more credibility than mine, doesn't make me "trust you", trust me. And it's not 1985 anymore, it doesn't take all that long to come up with a new design like it once did. This is after all , ju

I'd like to think that Mercedes Benz is more worried about competitors like BMW and Audi rather than anyone cross-ocean, particularly as their primary focus is on the Chinese market.

Again, frank908, stop flattering Cadillac (or yourself) by assuming that Mercedes is doing this because of Cadillac. TRUST ME, Mercedes is not looking over its shoulder at what an also-ran wannabe luxury marque is doing and feeling threatened by it. And, yes, MB is more Tier 1 than Cadillac ever will be. Live in my neck of the woods where Bentleys and Rolls Royces are a dime a dozen, and you'll see just who is driving a Mercedes vs. who is (not) driving a Cadillac.

Is it me, or does this need to back to the design team for a remodel. The grille is too large and the proportions seem distorted. It may have all the right numbers, but does not convey a sense of style, sophistication, or artistry. Mercedes seems to be producing a number of unattractive vehicles these days. Of course, many BWMs are not exactly stylish either. We know they certainly are not working at Acura. Apparently, all of the good designers went to Korea.
