Obviously fuel economy is not the Jeep's best attribute, but I'm impressed with how well it has held up. They've driven it, modified it, taken it off road... The 31,000 miles it has accumulated have not been easy. How much longer are they going to keep this Jeep? It is by far my favorite Long Term car to read about.

I wonder how much of the lost economy you would get back if you upgrade the diff ratios to something appropriate for the much larger tires you have installed.

Any improvement wouldn't make up for the cost, but I would bet day-to-day driveablility would be improved quite a bit and 6th gear would be more useable.

Jeep over inflates their mpg calculator and its not consistently accurate. Use your own calculator and then tell us what it is. I have a '12 Unlimited Sport with the same wheels, a 3.73 rear axle, and stock suspension. I have averaged over 46 fill ups 15.49 and the Jeep has shown 16.06. The Jeep mpg calculator has been off as little as +.11 but as great as +3.36. Frustrating that the dealer can't do anything about it and my wife's '08 CRV is spot on every time! I hope Jeep improved it with the '13 updates.
