    Can you make the same type of run with the CLA? I'd like to see how these two German 2.0T's compare under similar circumstances, especially since you guys can't seem to do well with the CLA.

    The same run? That's a tough ask, but I'll see what I can do. The backseat and the trunk of the CLA are nowhere near as well-suited for this trip, which I usually do with 4 people aboard. This 2-up run was an anomaly. Perhaps we can do a comparison on a different stretch. But I will say the 8-speed automatic in the BMW is waaaay better in terms of overall smoothness and gear-intelligence than the CLA's automated manual.
