Dumb question without coffee - why a rear view mirror(s) on a self driving car? Maybe mandatory safety equipment? For blind or very elderly, or simply really bad drivers, this is huge. Wondering if you lost your license, would this be a legal option?

So many old, disabled, vision impaired people this could help.

I expect that some day, due to safety concerns, it will be illegal to drive your own vehicle. Unless it somehow falls under the 2nd Amendment.

I also expect that hackers will be designing computer viruses to crash the cars. ooops.
