Nice article - many cars that I really like, but I need to point out that the Delorean is a rear-engine car, not mid-engined. Also, while it will bust your $25k budget to do so, the fine folks in Houston will sell you an updated engine for your Delorean that will boost the horsepower to about 200, for about $10k or thereabouts. It is a stock engine with polished ports and hotter cams, so it fits without complaint or issue into the engine bay.

How could you do an article on budget mid engined cars without mentioning the Fiat X1/9 which, for all intents and purposes, invented this segment?

The Delorean is not mid engined. The car that SHOULD be on this list is the 3rd gen twin turbo RX-7.

This is an interesting article today, as due to a wildly speculative market, some of these cars can't be touched in nice condition for 25K.
