Testing on the racing-bound Chevrolet Corvette C7.R may begin as early as July, according to one Web site, although General Motors will only confirm that testing will start sometime this year.

    I think the real story here is that the C7.R will apparently miss the 24 Hours of Daytona, unless that event gets bumped back slightly to February. It will be interesting to see how Chevy and the Corvette nameplate in particular position themselves in the USCR. If they stay as they are now, things could get pretty confusing with "Corvette" DP tube-framers in the Prototype class, Chevy-powered Orecas in the PC class, C7.Rs in the GTE class, and the Marsh Corvette in the GTC class, maybe even the Stevenson Camaro still. Maybe it is time to just call the "Corvette" DPs Chevy-Cayote/Riley/Dallara just like the other DPs. Honestly, I think Corvettes need to have a factory presence full-time in the WEC. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
