Sorry but is this legit as a complaint? You almost never get a view of a column mounted key ignition yet drivers have been able to insert keys for decades. The push button start is a pretty large button and I imagine you'd have little trouble jabbing at it with enough accuracy after 2 or 3 days in the car.

It is another one of those 'issues' that is only noticeable if you have 20 different cars to choose from every day. The rest of us just hit the button without thinking about it and as legacygt pointed out nobody ever complained that the ignition key went into the side of the steering column on most cars where it couldn't be seen.

Wow - you guys beat me to it. This is something that crops up only in motoring-journo land. Another of my favorite journo-complaints: Bluetooth setups that don't have the capacity to pair with 15 different iPhones. Wow - that's sure going to be a crippling flaw for a daily driver that is shared by maybe two people at most.

This is very bad for goldfish and their limited memory span!

I agree that this is yet another silly complaint. It took me all of about one day of owning my Focus ST to find the start button. Then, I never needed to "see" it again .... only need to "feel" where it is.

This is a non-complaint like the gripe about having to hold down the start button on the long-term Jetta. Move along, nothing to see here.

@banhugh: My wife actually was able to train a goldfish to swim through a hoop in response to a light during feeding time as part of a psych class project.

Give it a break... I've never had trouble finding the start button. It even lights up. This is no issue...What's next? Its to much effort to push it in?

The hidden-ness depends on seat height, fore-aft distance from the steering wheel and vertical location of the wheel. I'm fortunate to have found the sweet spot.
