The 3.5 liter paired with the current hybrid powertrain and the 7 spd daul clutch trans would have been a better option for this CUV. In addition, the QX 60 may confuse QX56 buyers. The M is going to be the Q70? I swear Nissan's managment must have been drinking more than the UN during their business meeting, coming up with their new Q name plate.

250 hp?!?!?! That's less than what it already has which isn't enough for this heavy vehicle.

In regards to the new naming scheme...I heard someone the other day refer to the G35 as a Q35, LOL! I don't think anyone other than car fans know what cars are actually called.

Keep in mind folks that this is a FWD platform shared with the Altima/Murano/Maxima, and will not fit any of the powertrains from the G or M. So, it makes sense they would put an Altima-based 2.5 engine as the hybrid for the JX.

Doing the math, 26mpg combined isn't terrible, given that the JX weighs 50% more than an Altima, and assuming the Altima will get this powertrain in the near future as well, this suggests the Altima would get closer to ~39mpg overall, which is competitive with Camry/Fusion given the 25% horsepower advantage over the other two.

We can question whether 250hp is appropriate for a JX hybrid, but Nissan knows their target audience for this vehicle, and the majority of JX buyers are not speed demons. I think this is a very good decision by Nissan to leverage a mass market powertrain.

I may have spoke too soon - the 20hp electric motor suggests a mild hybrid, so any application in the Altima won't come even close to approaching Camry/Fusion hybrid mileage.
