    Despite what AAA may conclude, people don't have a clear understanding of the risks. Texting while driving once is low risk. But a hundred occurrences of texting while driving could be just as risky as one instance of driving with your eyes closed. This, I fear, is what people don't understand: that the cumulative risk of a lot of low-risk events is high-risk. .

    I was involved in a somewhat high-speed collision because a newly-licensed teen was "getting messages all day" and "just looked down for a second". (Her words). Literally this girl had no clue what she was doing was wrong; she was more afraid of her parents finding out. The point is that it can happen to anybody at any time, and people are oblivious to that.
