Interesting to see the numbers on the AWD, top-of-the-line GT. I opted for an FWD GS in Canada. Over 5000 km (3000 mi) I am seeing 26.8 mpg so far, just shy of the EPA 27 mpg combined rating. My best tank was 31.4 on the highway and my worst was 22.8 in city driving. Looks like about a 2 mpg penalty to go AWD in the heavier GT. I put the savings in initial cost and fuel into winter rims and snow tires.

I have a question I am too lazy to research. Does Edmunds rely on a vehicle's onboard computer to keep track of lifetime overall mileage? I seriously doubt it but I would like to know for sure. This particular vehicle is on my very short list of possibilities when I am planning to purchase next year. Knowing what real world MPG numbers to expect will be very important.

Thanks to anyone who can confirm how Edmunds tracks fuel mileage on their long term test vehicles.
