    This car comparison is like too many others in that the important questions of engine smoothness, engine sound, and low-RPM power are not addressed.

    Considering the historical smoothness advantages of more cylinders, car journalists should focus very intently on what impact fewer cylinders have on smoothness and quietness.

    Don't forget: it is not fuel economy only that is driving the move to fewer cylinders. As fuel injection and emission control systems become ever-more complex and costly, there are major cost savings to be extracted from providing the buyer with fewer engine cylinders. What are we consumers giving up in return? One cannot find the answers from the car journalists.
