Some sports cars are so delicate you worry about every little nick and scratch. With our Porsche 911, there's some wiggle room built in to keep the wheels looking scratch free.

Very cool idea, especially when the cost of wheels is considered.
Certainly more stylish than curb feelers.
    911 + curb feelers = fail.

these stuff has been around for years and years even on cheap tires like Falken and Nexxans. from what i've seen they dont help much you still see cars with beat up wheels that had curb protectors on the tires. although you never will see what it may have protected from i havent notice a trend in wheels looking better over time compared to wheels that diddint have them.

but most tires have these now so its moot.

Adjusting the mirrors may help when backing up but you can still curb the front wheels when moving forward.

The rim protector strip definitely helps, but there is no substitute for knowing where on the road those four contact patches are at all times (novel concept anymore...).

@fordson1: Knowing your vehicle is one thing, but the editors and writers here jump from one vehicle to another in very short periods of time. That would make it a little tougher, I think. Or, they may just be bad parkers, I don't know.

i think that being a professional tester/driver/editor where your job is driving cars should make you more aware of your surroundings. And, ya know, pay more attention to curbs and the such.

I have Pirellis with the same sidewall protector and still curbed the crap out of one my wheels. It's too long of a story, but it happens to the best of us.
