    It might be a matter of semantics, but I believe that "The correction ensures that the 'Check Engine Light' will illuminate should an abnormal condition develop" is not the same as "The ECM update prevents a check engine light that may otherwise illuminate under certain abnormal conditions."

    Not just semantics - what he said is the opposite of what the mailer says.
