What is it with you guys and tires. I haven't had a flat in years yet just about every car you test eventually has tire issues. I think Stokes Tire is a sponsor.

It's the extremely low-profile 20" and 21" tires they have on these cars that are the culprits. Their 750Li, Porsche 911 and Tesla Model S have all had tire problems. It's the nature of the beast. Notice how their Chevy Silverado has been fine?

Low-profile tires ought to get some sort of warning before entering service at Edmunds.

I guess when the entire fleet puts on approximately 400K miles a year, even though it seems like you get a lot of flats, I think that you guys are about average. We put on about 30K a year combined on our cars and get about one flat every 1 to 1 1/2 years.

I think it depends on the environment you're in. A good economy encourages lots of construction of buildings, remodelers, and related industries out plying their trade. Somehow the debris from the construction projects slowly gets onto the roadways. Notice it was a wood screw that punctured their tire?

Can't say in the 10 years that have passed since I have gotten my license I have never had a nail or a flat and I can't say that any of my family have had one. I think its just how junk filled California roads are combined with the lack of rain to help wash away stuff like nails and screws on to the sides of the road and in the gutters.

Agree with noburgers. If anyone here drives 400,000 miles per year like the Edmunds fleet covers you'd probably get a few flats and chipped windshields along the way too.
