Nice option for customers with deep pockets.
Diesels are tailor-made for hauling, except the bulk of truck buyers don't 'need' a truck, but want to own one.
If you are in the minority of buyers that truly need one with plenty of grunt, diesel might be the way to go.
Just be sure to bring your checkbook. $$$

    "However, with rising gasoline prices..."

Nonsense. Gas prices are not "rising" - they have been in a rather narrow range for the past four years. and they are not rising at the moment; and they have not risen this year.

Do it, do it, do it! I'd love a Cummins in a Tundra. I'd REALLY love a Toyota or Cummins 4 cyl diesel in a Tacoma 4x4. In fact, I'd be the first one to place an order.

Turbo, hibred or diesel they better do something. The 15 mpg there current power train delivers is just as bad in the last generation of trucks.

If I want to get 18 miles to a gallon I will drive my gas V6 and not get take a beating at the pumps. What I want is my same small truck to go to Home Depot, get fire wood, and go deer hunting but get 30-40mpg. I don't have a horse trailer to pull. Everyone else makes the BIG DIESEL PICKUP. Why doesn't Toyota just sell the Hilux with the 2.5 liter turbo diesel that the rest of the world gets. Are they prohibited by the EPA or some other worthless government agency?
