I am so glad they decided to show "two photos" ....neither of which show any details. Yes that helps- not

Mustang has always been a great value in terms of performance for the price. I just hope that Ford can keep the pricing reasonable for the new car due in 2014. I noticed that a generously optioned Mustang GT is pretty much a $40,000 proposition, which is not cheap. I am NOT a fan of sparsely optioned "base" models. My "preferred" Mustang would be the GT Premium (V-8, leather upholstery, metallic dashboard trim, nice stereo) with the Brembo package for sports car handling and performance. The price comes very close to the big FOUR-OH. The new car should have a nice interior and sports car handling without expensive packages IMO.

This car can't be revealed quickly enough. I am planning to buy a new car before winter -- but maybe I can tolerate it for one more year until the latest Mustang is revealed and on sale...

yeah hype it up. American auto companies just can't make decent cars period.

^You can't seriously call yourself an enthusiast if you blanket generalize an entire industry. The new Corvette Stingray and the Tesla Model S fall squarely under the umbrella of "American auto companies," so you might want to rethink your statement. --coming from someone who generally prefers Japanese autos

I guess if someone from the renowned Pasadena Art Center (I guess nowadays it's just called Art Center College of Design, eh?) nods approval of it, it can't be too bad. Pretty much the 2nd top school aside from Rhode Island for art in the United States.

As for me, I look forward to seeing a new Mustang with a real IRS. Makes cross shopping with the rest of the superb offerings in the same price range like the FR-S even better, though harder. Competition, ain't it grand?

Also curious about where Ford's contemporary rendition of the Mustang will head, since they talked quite a bit about leaning away from retro cues in the new design.

Ive been saying it for years. The current mustang is far too big but Ford designers were very clever at tweaking its design to give the appearance of it being slightly smaller, yet, its hood level is far too high, wheels far to big and despite the talk it actually doesnt have the traditional long hood, and following the chrysler 300 with the faux chop'ed roofline look it only made the car boxier and fatter. more metal that does nothing but add more weight. The mustang is a 5 star rated vehicle and thats great but at the cost of seriously bulky doors and interior paneling. Bottom line is the car needs to go, and not be followed. Whats needed is an all new platform that will take mustang to a higher level of performance, the car has the power but today its chassis simply bogs it down. think about , even the 640+hp shelby cant outrun a 460hp GTR! and even its a big heavy car. 2015 mustang has have truer proportions of a sports car, lower lighter sleeker. and is looks sexy. even those 60's mustangs were lower and sleeker, and way sexier, especial if youve ever seen elanor gt500 in person. In fact the mustang does share a similar design profile as an aston martin, they got it from the mustang! 77 Vantage. so Ford gota do it rite, hopefully theyre not going to be stupid and only deliver what would amount to just another facelift of the current platform. Thats exactly what that protoype mule looks like. and that would be a huge disappointment. No one wants a continuation of the 05 chassis its time to move on. its 2013 already, and i believe they got the most out of that platform.

As an old time Mustang owner and lover, I hate the articulating rear lights.
A flat across rear end would look better, and the roof line sucks the way they blend the fastback into the rear deck looks cheap.
A good line to the transition from roof to deck lid should look something like the 69-70 body.
I am all for a new design but it needs to be clean and sharp, the Mustangs since the II have all had a cheap look to them always something missing.
