I don't know, is it just me or is this basically the same looking car as the critically panned and boring 2012. If this is in fact the "radical" new Civic re- design, then I will not be buying this car. I was hoping for the European version with hatchback option and rubber trimmed wheel well. Very cool looking. This does not keep pace with the styling of 2013 Elantra or even 2013 Mazda 3, or soon to be released Mazda 3 2014. I love that Honda makes a natural gas Civic, but these cars are ugly. Save for maybe the Accord, I don't see much style or interior comfort in any of their models. What about a natural gas Accord?
Hopefully the 2013 Civics will have the "Earth Dreams" (as they call it) engines; Direct Injection and the non-Si Civics will also have part-time Atkinson valve behavior so it can get hybrid like MPG if you drive conservatively. Also should come to the Civic, Inisght, CRZ hybrid. It's a first in the industry I think, having the engine being dual-mode like that. I think 1 of the main reasons why they are the only ones doing it is because of patents, which can hinder innovation. The new engines might come as the 2014 year though.
CVTs will be a good move too, provided that the driver can shift manually if they want to.
