To be specific road noise was the problem for Honda. Engine noise is a good thing if it is a well tuned engine. And Honda is the master of engine refinement. The silky sounds of a Honda V6 at redline should not be hushed or quieted.

How does it compare to the Infiniti JX or the Hyundai Sante Fe?

Is it really quiet or does it use active noise cancellation?

It took Honda how many years to figure out that not everyone wants to hear tire roar reverberating through the cabin?

Our 2008 MDX is running like a champ at 115K miles. The ONLY things I don't like about it are that it's not as quiet as it should be, and the infotainment is now feeling out of date.

That said, I see us getting another MDX to replace this one - the refresh addresses pretty much every one of the previous model's shortcomings, and the extra MPG will be very welcome.
