    That's the part of San Diego that I miss the most now that I live in TX. Julian is a fun little town and the drive up there on the main highways is great - the best road I found in the area is Farmer Road which turns into Wynola Road and brings you back to Hwy 78/79.

    Julian is known as a sort of pie hub in general, and apple pie hub in particular, due to the local apple orchards. I don't know if they have bred an apple variety that is specific to Julian, but there really is something about the flavor of those apple pies that is unique to this town. (And no, it's probably not Soylent Green.)
