    You're in Southern California. Your instant traffic update is that unless it is between 9 PM and 4 AM, all the freeways are jammed to a stop.

    Is the real time traffic any faster in the CLA? If so then this is an area for improvement.

    Otherwise, you're comparing apples and oranges. Your smartphone is replaced every 2 years and you are paying a large amount of money every month to get the data needed for your traffic. Your car doesn't have the luxury of that connection, nor would you really be willing to pay for it if given the chance.
