The rear-seat room is one of the reasons I chose a Passat. It's seriously like a stretch limo back there. I wonder how rear legroom is measured, because it sure seems like the Passat has more than 0.6 in. more than the Accord. Is it measured from the backrest to the front seat, or is it measured from the front edge of the bottom seat cushion to the front seat? If it is the latter, the length of the bottom cushion would definitely impact the legroom measurement even though it wouldn't affect real-world legroom.

the only surprise from this article is how little rear legroom there is in the Maxima. that car is HUGE!!

Rear seat legroom really is terrific in the Passat. In fact, it's even better than a Jaguar XJ and BMW 750i which are both 38.9.

Why didn't you list the new Mazda6? I'm over 6 feet and I actually find the Mazda6 has some really nice leg room. The Passat is class-leading however.

Yeah both the Maxima and the Ford Taurus fall are both large cars with poor interior space. The Taurus in particular is MASSIVE and smaller cars have more rear leg room.
