Unlike some other cars we could name, our 2013 Dodge Dart SXT has effective sun visors that provide full coverage in the side position, too.

This is the sort of thing I'd like the LT blog to cover more regularly. I don't know if many people check details like this on a test drive, but you sure notice it when living with a car long term.

Do people actually swing their sunvisors over to the side like that? I've never had a car where I could swing it over while underway and I find it far better to have it in front instead of the side because I'd end up just wanting it back in front of me as soon as I managed to get it to the side. Assuming my head wasn't in the way. Of course, our roads twist and turn so much that my experience is probably atypical.

Dodge Dart: awful powertrain and the build quality sucks, but at least the sunvisors work well!

@85se: Long straight freeways here. Head north in the afternoon and the sun will come in through the side window 'til sunset. It's even worse at northern latitudes in winter, where the sun never gets out of visor range all day. That made a big impression

Good sun visor design seems to be the first thing the bean counters cost delete out. Remember when some cars used to have dual visors so that you could swing one to cover the side window and the other to cover the front window?

@wdrauch. Yep. At one point Chevy's cheapest S-10 pickup had that setup.
