    I wouldn't call it a malfunction just yet. If it went away, maybe it was just a weird sensor reading or something else that sorted out over time with warm up or something.

    Sounds about right considering ZF produces the part.

    It happened to me today. Bought our 2013 ATS in April today I got the message you posted. However, my power steering did fail. I was backing out of a parking spot. Felt like I was driving a tank. I was able to pull forward back into the spot. I shut the car down then restarted. The power steering re-engaged and worked fine. However, I called the dealer and they told me to bring the car in immediately. While I was at Service the I was told that they've received a service bulletin for this problem. I'll try to come back and let you know what they say when I pick it up. FYI 4200 miles on my car.
