I'm not going to shop for an electric vehicle because I require more range than most EVs can give. 100 miles in a normal day, to 1,000 miles in an extraordinary day. The only alt-fuels I can consider at this time are combustible.

The government giveth, and the government taketh away. Programs, subsidies, etc. all come and go and confuse the hell out of any normal human being who tries to understand them. People who work for government love arcane rules and complexity (that's why they work in those jobs). Normal people can't stand that stuff, and quit paying attention. Government types have nobody to blame but themselves that people don't behave the way they want them to.
