    Erin, I'm surprised to read that you find engine roar to be the most noticeable component of cabin noise. Aside from subcompacts with straining 1.5 liter engines, I rarely notice a car's engine at highway speeds unless downshifting, and then the noise is temporary. Tire noise is what kills me, and that never goes away. I've owned a few louder highway cars and it is always the tire roar that makes the cabin noisy.
