I have an EX35 with the adaptive cruise control I couldn't agree with you more. Its pretty much useless unless you're on really light traffic highways. I usually use the regular cruise. I will not bother selecting this option on a future car unless I try and its not annoying. Also on mine the brakes apply hard when slowly approaching another car and you've passed a certain distance from them. Which is super annoying and it uses only the rear brakes which also wears them out faster.

I am so glad I'm not in the market for a vehicle like this.

I would love to see a large or midsize luxury vehicle that has the electronic complexity of a late 90's truck. Seriously. Just well sorted suspension and steering, a good chassis, decent sound deadening, and a simple interior with easy-to-use controls. Maybe a half hidden pop-up navigation screen for when you go out of town. The thing would be the joy of my life, as well as being cheaper and easier to work on! Probably won't happen though, so I'll continue dreaming about a mid 70's XJ6 restoration.
