The fact that you like Jim Carrey makes you a "Lehoo-oozer". Oh and remember, one must forego the self to obtain total spiritual creaminess, and avoid the chewy chunks of degradation. Alllllrighty then!
"Man, it's good to have a truck around" --- no, no, no. There is no logical reason to own a truck. --- You could have gone to uhaul, stood in line, hoped they had a truck, reserved the truck for later, then come back when it was available, payed for the truck, gone back home... oh wait, you need someone else to drive your car home... loaded up the hood, taken it to where it needed to go, then realized it was too late to return the rental truck, found someone to drive your car back to the u-haul place the next day, waited around for them to check in the truck, argued about how that ding was on the truck when you got it, waited in line to process the paperwork, returned the truck, driven the person that drove your car there home and thanked them for spending their morning at u-haul with you. -- see, no need to own a truck.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that that this hood came from somewhere on a truck, and that it could have come the rest of the way to his home on a truck, too. I just bought a central A/C condenser/compressor and an A-coil - 155 lbs. for the one and 75 for the other. They came right to my house on a semi with a power tailgate and we slid the items straight off it onto my hand truck. Would I rather have gone and wrestled them into my pickup bed at my local Johnstone Supply? No.
All the reason why it is so good to have a FRIEND with a truck. And be verrrry nice to that friend. Gifts of beer are usually well-recieved in lieu of payment. Beats the heck out of renting/owning for the occasional haul. Note: the big-box stores rent by the hour and you can leave your car in their parking lot. Not sure if they require you to buy something else from them. If so, buy one 2x4! Work the system!
@noburgers Sorry for the double post but actually in this day and age picking up the fuel bill for the trip are far better received by truck owners then beer or lunch.
@hybris np I pay for the gas too, it's way more expensive than lunch/beer. I'm lucky to have a very generous brother, father, brother-in-laws, and father in law all with pickups. I try to use our minivan for handling most hauling needs, even some du
