    Screens like this are, as you say, particularly useful on long trips. When I'm on the highway in the middle of the desert and my next turn isn't for a few hundred miles, I don't need the nav screen to keep reminding me of that. However, reminding me of my speed is quite useful on those long straight stretches. Just make sure to reset after attempting to go after any sort of Vmax records.

    Not sure I understand the rationale "mostly to prevent becoming a target of overzealous enforcement". Is the speedometer in your gauge cluster that inaccurate? Is an officer less likely to give you a speeding ticket if you can say you were going "exactly 77" in a 65 zone, rather than "a little over 75"? The reason I ask is that I've never wanted for an exact speed reading except on the rare occasion I change to different sized tires.

    I'm close to buying a Forte EX but one thing I really like about my stand-alone GARMIN GPS is that the car speed and the posted speed are shown side-by -side. I guess that kind of info is not available on the FORTE GPS?
