    "The standard of family-sized vehicles used to mean a lot of space at the expense of low MPG and high fuel costs." It still does. 18+ mpg is way worse than what a smaller car would have done. Now, you got all that space, as you say, but it was definitely at the expense of lower mpg and higher fuel costs.
