"Impractical." I had to define that word for my 9 year old Saturday night when we passed a really nice, new Silverado on the highway. I told my kids that I thought that truck was really nice, but would be totally impractical for our family to own.

I really would like to own one, but it really is completely impractical.

I'd say practicality is extremely subjective @eclogite. If you need a work truck for daily business use, but taking the kids to school or having a comfy weekend car as well, this is extremely practical.

What does "practical" even mean?? Does everything have to be a hatchback and get 40mpg to be practical? How is a $55k 528i practical? Or any other vehicle that we slap the "luxury" badge on and nod in understanding?

Simple: if you can't afford it, don't buy it. And if you slog around in LA stop and go, it's probably not a good daily driver, but that's pretty obvious, no?
