    Japan, an island nation with less than half the population of the United States or Europe, and about a tenth the population of China. Japan, a country that heavily protects its domestic industries, including automotive. Japan, a highly urbanized country where automobiles are luxuries rather than necessities. Japan, with a culture that strongly opposes anything foreign. Call me when JCOTY matters to anyone outside of Japan.

    OK, I get it - so it's the JMCOTY - Japanese Manufacturer's Car of the Year. As long as it makes them feel good, all power to them.
