    Well, yeah...but you are towing and hauling with it. Yes, that is what it's designed for, but the EPA does not perform its testing with a heavy cargo or with a trailer attached.

    Wow! That mpg is insane for full sized v8 truck! Compare to my 2011 Taco V6 4x4 which avg around 16-17mpg, I am truly impressed. Can't wait to see the new 9-10spd tranny can do for the mpg!!

    I get 7-11 mpg city and 6-8 mpg highway in my 99 F150 so quit complaining your not paying for gas.

    I'm really impressed with the mileage you're getting on the Silverado. I have a 4 cylinder Colorado, and in overall driving (34-mile daily commute, evenly split between country roads and Interstate), I only get 3-4 mpg better. I'd gladly trade 3-4 mpg for the comfort, room, and capability of the Silverado.

    Your numbers look pretty good, certainly better than the 15 lifetime average I had over 85K miles with my 07 5.7 Tundra 4x4.

    My 14 Sierra 5.3 4x4, 3.42 rear end, crew cab with 6.5 foot box just passed 12K miles also. I have oversize 34" tires and a small lift, so the truck sits 4" higher than stock. I've used Hypertech to correct the speedometer/odometer for the tires, so my mileage figures are still accurate.

    That being said, my overall mileage after 12K miles is 20, which is 10% better than the epa 16/22 (18) for the 4x4. I probably drive easier than most, and have certainly noticed the mileage starts to drop above 75. Best tank was 24, but that was the rare exception. Most around town tanks are 18-19, highway tanks are generally 20-22 cruising at 75.

    So, yes, you can achieve the epa numbers on the 14 GM trucks, even with oversize tires and a small lift, but you have to keep it under 75.
