I've always preferred coupes to convertibles, but convertibles have limited versatility around here where "good" weather is from April to May, and September to October.

The coupe will also be welcome at far more track day events.

Unless you're going to track the car, I take the proper convertible here in S. CA.

Is the buffeting as bad in the convertible as it is in the coupe?

i think it was in one of Travis' posts where he said you could not have a conversation over 60mph.

I'm with Mark. I wish more sports cars and coupes came as a targa. I think manufacturers by and large realized that the engineering work for a targa was about the same as for a convertible, but since they can charge more for a convertible, they'd rather offer just a coupe and a convertible. Shame though, because while the targa is the worst of both worlds for some OEMs (cost more to make than a coupe, can't charge as much as a convertible), it's best of both worlds to many of us.

Continuing a happy trend that goes back at least as car as the C5 (1997), the convertible is barely heavier than the coupe, because the chassis is already stiff enough.

This new Stingray is really an excellent car. Plus, I love Targas (and traditional convertibles). I have had a FIAT X1/9 and two Honda del Sol's and two MX5 Miatas. Presently, I have a FIAT 500c (not a Targa and not really a convertible but it is a charming open air car.
