What is the deal with Chrysler and these bogus brands? It is like Fiat promised we'd get the Fiat and Alfa brands in the US, and when those plans imploded they still felt obligated to produce two new brands, so just pretend the Dodge truck constitutes its own brand, and a Dodge car and a trim level of a Jeep constitute another brand. Does anyone buy that? What is the point besides complicating dealer relations, increasing marketing costs, and diluting existing, established brands?

@stovt001: Not sure if there is a problem, because actually the "brands" that Chrysler spun off make a lot more sense than they used to. RAM is entirely a truck/commercial brand, Chrysler is (trying) to be positioned as a Buick/near luxury type
