    excellent post.

in the mustang community people love to over-tire their cars.

i'm tempted to go for a stickier tire than my 255/45-18 re760s but the ride quality is excellent as is the wear rating... and i've only gone to the road course a couple of times. they have plenty of stick for public roads. 275 are common and would look nicer but i don't need the extra width.

people spend a lot of money to get some performance they will most likely never use. would rather have something with a lower limit so i can use all of what i have paid for.

I know what you mean Mark. When I bought my Miata the seller slapped on the hardest pair of Khumo A/S tires I've ever seen, just to sell it. I wanted some better tires, but of course the wife said not until the car needed it. So off to the autocross course it was. Turns out, it was mega fun sliding and whipping around on those no-grip rubbers. My times were still half-decent since the Miata is so perfectly balance, so the lack of tire grip let me have plenty of oppo-lock fun while still staying mostly in control and getting around quickly.

i still think it's silly that they equipped this car from the factory with crummy tires just because they know that people will want to drive sideways in this car. Whats next? putting crummy tires on only the rear of FWD cars so people can drive those sideways too?

also what are you smoking s197gt using narrower tires so you will get your money's worth? if you are okay with lower limits and don't see yourself needing higher limits then that is fine. or if wider tires are too expensive and you are willing to deal with lower limits instead of part your hard earned dollars cool. But the narrower tires have more value, what?

@bassrockerx I think s197gt is going for is either cost of the tire or maybe fuel economy?
