I don't see the 25% increase in mileage. The non hybrid 2wd gets 23 combined vs 26 for the hybrid, that is 13% increase. Can someone clarify this for me. If I'm correct, then your pay a premium of $3,000 for the hybrid and only save $1,500 in gas over a 75,000 mile period using $4.00 gallon cost.

MAYBUD, the hybrid could be 4WD, and its a bet. Gas could cost lots over $4 in the future. Some Prius buyers jumped at that danger in the past, and ended up empty handed, but this time it could be different. Also, hybrids are an image product in the US of A, why else would a XV crosstrek hybrid and Tahoe hybrid exist? When it comes to efficiency Japanese Kei cars can not be beaten. But those penalty boxes aren't even sold here for a reason.
