    I see the same picture of the center armrest console box in its open state. Am I missing something?

    Really? Two posts about The Shelf in 8 days? Test drove a Highlander last week. Yes, The Shelf was handy. But do you know what wasn't? The radio and the rest of the center stack, which has to be oriented horizontally in order to make The Shelf possible. It's a far reach to do anything on the center stack controls, by the driver or passenger. So how much accessibility to actual important stuff like nav, climate and infotainment would you like to compromise for the sake of chucking you phone onto The Shelf?
