My van won't start. 1998 GMC Safari.

I ahve a 1998 GMC Safari van. It went dead while driving down th road. The fuel pump is working and I have replaced the crank sensor per advice form someone. My boyfriend disconnected the batter so I cannot get a code. I'm thinking cam sensor? Please if someone could help me? I drive a bus for a living and cannot afford to pay to get advice or have it done, I'm very mechanically inclined, but I'm at a loss here.
