Can an oil change cause metal on metal rattling sound in my engine? 2006 Honda Odyssey.
Hello.
We've taken our 2006 Odyssey to a few mechanics now, including the dealer, and NO ONE can tell us where this metal on metal grinding sound is coming from when I accelerate or go uphill. Sometimes, when I press the gas even more, it actually "clears it." Hm...
Problem started when we came back from jiffy lube. The next morning, I noticed oil under my car. When I confirmed that this was leaking from my car, took it back to jiffy lube. They said it was nothing, but must have tightened something, because the leak was no longer there. The noise started a day or so later. Car has 114,000 miles and 100K maintenance has been done.
Any experienced, detective mechanics out there that could give us a clue? We've fixed a couple of things and ruled out a few possibilities, but the sound is still there. Dealer said it was heat shield. It wasn't. Actually, part of the noise was the flex pipe. Replaced that. Any other suggestions? Is my engine ruined or my car dangerous to drive?
Thanks a bunch.

I'm really surprised a dealer can't pinpoint this. Try them again.
