The ground strap between the starter and solinoid is corroded. It is made of copper. It seemed to still be somewhat intact though.

Would that make the car not start?

Touching the ground strap, and wiggling it around a little, I completely broke the connection. It fell apart in my hands due to the extreme corrosion.

Can that part be purchased separately?

AutoZone couldn't give me that part. They could only give me a new starter. I think I probably need a new starter anyway.
