    I think it's more to accommodate a solo carseat in the center position because a lot of parents believe that it's safer (farther away from the doors when in a T-bone accident).

    When trying to fit three car seats across the limiting factor is not going to be the upper LATCH anchor. It's the width of the car and I highly doubt you'll get 3 car seats to fit in the width of the Rogue. There are very few cars that can do this and none of them are in the compact CUV segment. More likely, that LATCH anchor is for fitting a single car seat in the center position as mentioned in a comment above.

    When trying to fit three car seats across the limiting factor is going to be your sanity...and not from getting the seats to fit.
