Our Ram doesn't have the most distinct cruise control buttons, but there are easy to use once you get used to where they are.

"Don't ask me why, but anytime I have clear road ahead of me I usually set my speed and hope that no one gets in my way for a while." Great - so you're the guy in the fast lane with his cruise on, going 1.5 mph faster than the guy in the slow lane, and I'm behind you, waiting to pass.
  • Are you like this in real life Fordson? This was an informative post, the snarkiness isn't necessary.

Cruise users who are not really going much faster than the lane to their right are a significant cause of rolling-roadblock syndrome. Everyone who drives much knows this. People already have enough things causing them to zone out when they drive - save the cruise for when traffic really opens up.

How do you KNOW they are using cruise control? Can you see the cruise indicators on the instrument panel illuminated? Most Americans now think the left lane is just a normal travel lane not a passing only lane and could care less that people are stuck behind them. Bad drivers not cruise users.

Back on topic. The on/off button is no big deal and can keep someone from accidentally activating the cruise control. My Acura has an on/off button but once it is turned on it will always be on unless you manually turn it off, even after you turn the car off. The indicator "Cruise Main" will always be on as long as the system is on. When engaged the indicator "Cruise Control" will also be illuminated. Since I also frequently use cruise control a good system is important. I prefer buttons on the steering wheel since they are directly in your line of sight and illuminated at night. But it really annoys me when they are on the left side of the steering wheel, it just doesn't seem right.

When a car keeps right at 65 mph as it goes from lane to lane, regardless of how many cars behind, how many cars ahead, any exits, entrances, uphill, downhill...you can pretty much tell. Bad drivers not cruise users? Why can't it be both?

HAHA no those holding the lanes are not cruise users, they are just the stubborn ones that refuse to speed up or get out of anyones way. I use cruise all the time as well and the others on the road that do not use it are horrendous. They fly by you then slow down a bit and then it continues a viscous cycle of seeing the same car in front and then behind because they are not paying attention or capable of holding a speed.

Oh and the Ram's cruise is the worse! It does not hold a speed and fluctuates 2-5MPH below when going up small hills before kicking down and catching back up.
  • Quite frankly, when I am running, I use cruise nearly all the time... But I am rarely running at or just above the speed of the right laners. and when somebody wants to go faster then me, I generally try the right lane for a minute or two... Bad drivers include the cruisers as well as the non-cruisers.. Not knowing or caring about lane usage is just bad driver period...
