i think this has been brought up a couple of times before with other long-term bmws. ours is set to cold in the summer and hot in the winter.

That is how we use it in our BMW as well.

It's a great feature for when you don't want to turn the knob (which would somewhat affect fan speed) but want colder or warmer air. Often in the summer the A/C would get so cold but because I liked the airflow, all I had to do was nudge the dial a bit and the air temperature was perfect. It's a great feature, and many people don't understand why it exists.

That is how we use it in our BMW as well.

A friend had a 7 series but then the climate control broke and it was in the dead of winter. He was strategically driving, desperately trying to stay in the sunny lanes.

The separate centre vent temp dial is a great feature........I wish my current non-BMW had it

I had a flashback to 2002 when I saw the BMW squished center stack. BMW's interiors seem so dated after looking at MBs newest models.
