i think this has been brought up a couple of times before with other long-term bmws. ours is set to cold in the summer and hot in the winter.

That is how we use it in our BMW as well.
  • It's a great feature for when you don't want to turn the knob (which would somewhat affect fan speed) but want colder or warmer air. Often in the summer the A/C would get so cold but because I liked the airflow, all I had to do was nudge the dial a bit and the air temperature was perfect. It's a great feature, and many people don't understand why it exists.

A friend had a 7 series but then the climate control broke and it was in the dead of winter. He was strategically driving, desperately trying to stay in the sunny lanes. :)

The separate centre vent temp dial is a great feature........I wish my current non-BMW had it :(

I had a flashback to 2002 when I saw the BMW squished center stack. BMW's interiors seem so dated after looking at MBs newest models.
