Interesting problem with starting Honda CR-V.

We have a very old Honda (2000 CRV) that has been an awesome car until recently. Starting the car sometimes requires turning to crank position, then off a few times before the engine actually cranks over. Battery and starter have been replaced within the last year. It does this with all weather conditions. Its almost impossible to start after making a short trip. Turn to crank, 1 crank, turn off, try again, try again, then boom, cranking starts, car fires up and runs fine.

Is it just old and tired or do I need to look at replacing the starter or some cables or and other thoughts?
