Bumper bosses

Hello, I've noticed on some late model cars, like Camrys and Jettas, that the front bumper has two protrusions/bumps/bosses spaced about 2-1/2 feet apart along the chin. Seems they are there for a reason, but I'm clueless. Anybody have any idea what they're for? Thanks!

    LOL! I think you're right. I have not seen it on all cars, just some, so it can't be some sort of international ISO standard anything. I think Forrest said it best: ugly is as ugly looks!
