I just purchased a 2011 Ford Edge with around 45,000 miles on it. There has been a few times that I have had a problem with hesitating on accelerating and can be pretty bad as to jerk you. Not all the time but I haven't noticed any warning lights on either. Then after it gets going, its fine. Shifts good and real smooth thereafter. Any ideas what this could be?

Bad transmission programming? I've had a couple cars that did that - a 2000 Buick Regal GS and a 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550. Thankfully both had a "sport" button that made them behave, but with the trans in economy* mode they were both slow to downshift and would sometimes hesitate then slam into a lower gear. Does your Edge have a "sport" button? Try pushing it if it does. You can also try jabbing the gas pedal harder. That worked on the Buick and Merc in "economy" mode.

    * Mercedes called it "comfort" mode in 2010, but we know what it really is - save a little gas to get better gas mileage numbers for the window sticker mode.
