Does anyone know if online EW can be purchased for FL drivers? Any suggestions?
Florida treats an EW as an insurance product with fixed prices. Try contacting out-of-state dealers by phone to see what can be arranged.
Here in New York the 8.75% sales tax will add $100 to $200 to the cost of an EW, another reason to patronize an out-of-state dealer who quotes reasonable prices.
Does anyone know if online EW can be purchased for FL drivers?
No, there's not really anything the online dealers can do. Per the state of Florida only in-state dealers are licensed by the state to sell "insurance" which is what they consider Honda Care to be.
From what I understand, you can't really even comparison shop in Florida, because the state also mandates a single price that each dealer must sell a certain level of coverage at.
I got prices on Honda extended care insurance today and the best price from the 3 dealers mentioned on forum a few posts ago was from Saccucci's at $ 1295.00 for 96 months/120,000 miles. That was $700.00 less than offered to me (on another brand of insurance) by the Honda dealer I purchased my Odyssey from the other day.Took about 3 minutes to complete the transaction.
I have an '07 Odyssey EX-L with 21,000 miles at 37 months. I have recently read and heard the horror story of a friend with an identical vehicle with 31,000 miles. Seems Honda is having a lot of transmission/software problems that are plaguing some. He took it in for nothing but an oil change and came out with a software change that he had no knowledge of until his transmission started acting up shortly after. Bottom line the transmission had to be removed and a new torque converter installed. How severe the problem is not know by me. I plan on keeping Ody for a long time so should I try to buy an HCEW at this point to protect my investment?
Read about the transmission/software problem in the Odyssey Forum. And if you have friends as I do with Odysseys........SPREAD THE WORD! There is a bulletin relating to this:

Cost would be a big help. And I want only the HCEW.
Thanks for the quick reply. The Odyssey is not my first Honda but the way things are going with their QC and way of handling things I would rather have another Toyota.
Okay just purchased a Certified Used 2007 Honda Accord EX-L 4cyl PZEV ($16.4k)
It's has 9200 miles, and it has been 37 months since it's first sale.
The dealer was pushing Honda wrap around coverage for $905, but it wasn't something i was aware of before heading to the dealership... he said it makes my warranty bumper to bumper 7yr/100,000.
So since its certified, i have already 12months/12,000miles. basically if i bought the warranty i would be paying $905 for 3 years/79,000 miles? is that correct?
Did I mess up in not getting this? Can i still get honda back warranty?

Yes, you are correct in regards to what you would be paying for.
Since your vehicle is over 36 months, you can only buy the Honda Care through the dealer. As to if you can still get it, you need to talk to the dealer. I hear it's only available at the time of vehicle purchase. Maybe he can still send in paperwork if you pay him $905.
Any pointers for EW by Honda Care or third party in Virginia state.
Bernardi Auto group (MA) - quoted 7Y/100K/$0 ded - $1110 One local Honda dealer - quoted 7y/75k/$100 ded - $1285 (but $1255 to be retrurned if not used at the end of the term)
Have not seen any recent postings on this. It looks like 7Y/100K/$0 should be bought in $700/$800 range based on the postings. Is that right?

For $700-$800 you may have been looking at a different Honda model and not an Odyssey. The $1,110 looks like about the lowest price you can get from the online dealers for the Odyssey for the plan you listed above. To confirm, you can also get a quote from:
Hello All I recently bought a new 2010 Honda Accord in Florida and am interested in buying the 8 year. 100k honda care extended warranty. Based on some posts in the forums it looks like Florida residents cant buy it online and have to buy it from an instate dealer. Could anyone who has bought HCEW recently please provide information regarding the dealer they bought it from and the cost.
Could anyone who has bought HCEW recently please provide information regarding the dealer they bought it from and the cost.
According to Florida insurance law, all Florida Honda dealers much charge the same amount for Honda Care. So it really doesn't matter which dealer you get it from. Maybe you could get one of the dealers to throw in some free extras if you buy it from them.
TRUE! But that is Used Honda Care Coverage. New Honda Care Coverage is only sold on (New HOnda vehicles Model Year 2009 and newer with up to 6,000 miles on odometer)
We picked up our 2010 Odyssey last night and the finance guy made a last push at trying to get us into an extended warranty. I told him about the better rates that were available online through other dealerships (didn't get into specifics). He replied that Honda dealers are no longer allowed to sell Honda Care warranties on-line, since about December. Does anyone know if this is true? Just yesterday I received price quotes from the three dealerships that I saw mentioned in this thread (all were exactly the same pricing, btw). I haven't tried following up with a phone call to confirm yet, but I wondered if anyone else had heard about this. The last thing I want to do is go through with an online purchase only to find out that it isn't valid or something like that. I would appreciate any input.
He replied that Honda dealers are no longer allowed to sell Honda Care warranties on-line, since about December.
The quotes you received by email are all valid.
What the online dealers are no longer allowed to do is receive payments for Honda Care through their website. They are still allowed to have a website and are allowed to receive requests for quotes through their websites. Then they send the quotes out by email with instructions on how to buy.
Does anyone have any compelling reason to go with one of the three sites (Bernardi, Hyannis, or Saccuci) vs. the others, given that the pricing is the same? My local dealer where I purchased the vehicle is quoting me about $200 higher ($1495 vs. $1295 for 8 yrs, 120K mi), but offers a full refund if no warranty claims have been made at the end of the term. It doesn't seem likely to me that we wouldn't use the warranty at all in 8 years, but it is reassuring to know that if we don't have to use it we would get our money back. Granted even best case we would have just loaned them $1500 for 8 years interest free. Maybe that's worth the extra $200, but I'm leaning against it.
Still trying to decide if I even want to get an extended warranty given Honda's great reputation. I suppose it's the "little" things like automatic doors, heated seats, dvd system, and other electronics. that are most likely to have problems and could potentially add up over the years. I would appreciate any input if anyone wants to chime in as to their experiences ingetting things reimbursed under the Honda Care program. Is it much of a hassel, do they give you a hard time about what is and isn't covered, etc.
Does anyone have any compelling reason to go with one of the three sites (Bernardi, Hyannis, or Saccuci) vs. the others,
I try to recommend Saccucci over the other two when pricing is even because Saccucci was the only online dealer which stood up to Honda when Honda was trying to shut down online sales. You can read about their battle here if interested:
but offers a full refund if no warranty claims have been made at the end of the term.
If you read the fine print on those offers, it's usually tricky to comply with the stipulations to meet the requirements to get the full refund. Usually you'd have to keep the car the full 8 years. Like if you decided to sell it before then, you may not be able to get the full refund.
With the standard Honda Care program, you get a pro-rate should you sell the vehicle early. You also can transfer it to another buyer for $50 and have the new buyer pay you extra for the Honda Care.
I would appreciate any input if anyone wants to chime in as to their experiences ingetting things reimbursed under the Honda Care program.
Well fortunately, there's not any reimbursement to you with Honda Care. If it's covered, the dealer just fixes it, and they get reimbursed by Honda. You don't have to pay anything. They don't usually hassle you. It's income for the Honda dealer if the item is covered, so it's to their benefit to do as much work as they can.
Thanks again! You are right, I meant coverage not reimbursement. Sure I understand the dealer is going to do the work if it's obviously covered, but if there is a question they may not be willing to fight Honda on whether or not it gets covered. That kind of stuff is what I'm looking for feedback on. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with the Honda Care warranty that they would like to share?
Still on the fence about whether or not to do it at all. Good thing I have about 5,900 miles to make a decision.
I have just done the deal on a Certified 2007 Honda Odyssey with 34k miles. It is from a Honda dealership and the vehicle is still on the lot. Would like to get the Honda Care extended warranty. To make sure the vehicle was eligible, I spoke directly with Honda and was told that the vehicle was eligible as long as I got the extended warranty from the dealership that is selling me the vehicle. The problem is that the dealership only offers the Zurich program. This kind of sucks and I would like to get thoughts on whether there is any other alternative. Thanks.
I have just done the deal on a Certified 2007 Honda Odyssey with 34k miles. It is from a Honda dealership and the vehicle is still on the lot
You have to find out when the vehicle was placed in service. If it less than 3 years from today thern you can still get the Honda Care from one of the online dealers since the vehicle has less than 34K miles.
You won't get many options, but you will be able to get something.
I bought a certified 07 Honda Odyssey Touring today. I paid 28300 OTD in California. I also purchased Honda Care Warranty (7yrs/100,000 miles) for it. For the warranty I paid 1750. Before my husband even drove the van out of the lot, I regret my extended warranty purchase because I did not do any research, and believed that I overpaid. I asked the salesman about getting a refund on it, and he said that he would have to speak to his manager. Unfortunately, his manager was already gone so he promised to call me in the morning. Will I be able to get a refund? Any input will be very much appreciated. Another thing, this van was already installed with LoJack. Does anyone how much would it cost to activate it? And who does the activation? Thank you
I did some more research after my last post and was told by Honda Care that I could only get the EW from the dealer that was selling me the vehicle. Spoke to the dealer and they were willing to offer me HC instead of Zurich. With Zurich I have the option to cancel at any time and get a pro-rated refund (refund would be applied towards the loan and amount will go to the bank). After much consideration I decided to go ahead with Zurich. I was able to get the $0 deductible at the price that I had previously negotiated for the same plan with $100 deductible - difference was $105. Their list price was $1995 and they quoted me a special price of .$1295. I paid $1000 + tax. This is for 7 yrs / 100k miles. Hope this helps.
Will I be able to get a refund? Any input will be very much appreciated.
The general Honda Care policy is that you can get a full refund after 60 days.
If your vehicle has been in service for more than 3 years or it has over 36,000 miles on it, you will not be able to buy a Honda Care from any other dealer.
If however, it has been in service for less than 3 years and it has less than 36,000 miles on it, you can buy a Honda Care for less from one of the online dealers:
I purchased 2010 Honda Odyssey EXL with Navi and RES plus Extended Warranty yesterday. I was told by dealer that they no longer offer Honda Care Extended Warranty as they had alot of issues paying claims and decided not to offer the HCEW to customers who purchases new vehicles. I am not sure how accurate is this from dealer located in Crystal Lake Illinois. I am also not sure how much they would have charged me if I did purchase HCEW. Instead, I purchased "Continuous Customer Care Warranty" that is being sold by Toyota Motors Ins company from the Honda dealer. I paid $900 for 7yr/75000 miles with $0 deductible. This is the platinum plan and covers everything except for wipers, body panels, battery, seat covers, etc. I don't know if I made right choice or not or If there is a cancel policy period. I think $900 is a good price but not sure about CCC Warranty. Does anyone have experience with the company or issues with claims from this company.
Here is the update on my Honda Care story. Curry Honda quoted me for a Honda Care policy with 0 deductible, 2015 or 112,000 miles for 1460.00. I went back to Goudy Honda and they dropped 700 dollars off the 1750 that they charged me at the first place. Coverage stayed the same (0 deductible, 2014 or 100,000 miles.) I stayed with Goudy and take the 700 bucks.
Hi, I'm driving Accord 2000 LX, mileage: 90K in Michigan; want to replace all four tires and please recommend some brand. I've replaced all tires @ 46K came with vehicle by Michelin - all weather around $110 per tire. I don't want to spend same amount right now because planning to drive another 4 / 5 years from now. Is all weather - Good year or BF Goodrich are good for Accord. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I'm driving Accord 2000 LX in Michigan and driver side front and rear keyless entry – actuator is not working; dealer quoting $150 for each door. Please refer any good place to fix this issue. Thanks in advance!
LoJack is in standby mode until activated. It is activated when the vehicle is reported stolen as the license plate number is associated with the VIN#. So you do not need to activate the LoJack.
Hi, I'm looking to purchase an Extended Warranty for 2010 Honda Ody EXL w/ RES and also Honda Civic EX. I understand you have to buy the Extended warranty before your original warranty ends.
My Question is: What if I want to wait 1 year or 2yrs before I buy the extended warranty? Do they charge a extra premium because the car now has mileage ? OR do the prices remain the same ?
My Question is: What if I want to wait 1 year or 2yrs before I buy the extended warranty? Do they charge a extra premium because the car now has mileage ? OR do the prices remain the same ?
There are two types of Honda Care. One you buy in the first 6,000 miles. Those have mileage and times which begin at the time when the car was put into service. For example 7 years, 100,000 miles or 8 years 120,000.
After 6,000 miles it changes, and when you buy a warranty it's added on to whatever miles your vehicle currently has on it and the time is from the date of purchase of the warranty.
So if you buy a 4 year 48,000 mile or 5 year 60,000 miles those would last for 5 years from today and the miles would add onto whatever you have on the odometer.
You'll find your choices will grow less and less as you approach the end of the standard 3 year, 36,000 miles standard warranty.
To understand this better, I'd request separate quotes from:
I drive 2002 Accord LX, changed tires around 2005, got the Goodyear Tripletred, still going strong after 5 years, excellent reviews out there. Got tires on-line (tirerack?) and got them installed locally.
I just purchased a Honda Care 5yrs/84k (additional mileage) from College Hills Honda for $1320 for an 2007 Honda Pilot EXL with 26k mile. Is this too much? This is the best deal that I got. I got quotes from CurryHonda for $1460, Saccuci for $1270 (but they don't offer in CA, i used the Nevada address), my two local dealerships, one in El Monte (Nelson) for $1500, and one in Reseda (Kolbe) for $1420. The guy at Kolbe is tricky, he told me that Honda Care cannot be purchased online or with dealership outside of California. I called Honda Care and they confirmed that his statement is False. Don't listen to these local salesman.

At this late stage of 26K, you're not going to get any better deal than that as you found from your research. Now you have protection until the odometer reaches 110,000 (or until 5 years is up), so it's pretty good.
You perhaps could've gotten a slightly better deal on a 8 year 120K if you had bought it within the first 6000 miles of vehicle use. But it wouldn't have been a whole lot better than what you got.
Plus you've got 5 years of roadside assistance included now.
Just purchased a 2011 EXL with Navi Saturday. Love it! I do want to purchase an extended warranty for it - keep my cars forever! Finance guy at the dealership in STC wanted to sell me an Aftermarket product called "The Mechanic Program". Said it was much more comprehensive - cost was $990 for 7/120K or $1495 for 8?120K. I couldn't even find this program on the internet anywhere. I think an extended warranty is a wise purchase on a car with so much electronics.
What's a good price for a 7/100K or 8/120K or something in that range for a Honda Care Extended Warranty?
Last monday I bought a car at a dealership in the bronx. I wanted $29k, they said that $29.5 was the best. So I got up. Then they agreed to $29, and they'd be able to get me my color. They said it'll be here Thursday or Friday. I called Thursday to confirm Friday delivery. (spoke to the manager). He tells me, he cant get that color, it's so hard, there are none out there, bla bla bla. 5 minutes online and I find and confirm the car 20 miles away. I also confirm the price. Call the dealership. Tell them to give me back my deposit, and they agree. I told them Im coming up there in 30 minutes. They call me back in 10 minutes, and tell me that he just spoke to the owner and the car will be here on Tuesday. That's when I proceeded to tell them that if it's not there on Tuesday you will have a ridiculously 250lb, 6'2" customer in their showroom. Im taking bets now weather they'll have it??
Looks like you're lost, joefar. This discussion is about extended warranties. Let me know if you need directions to another discussion, but it kinda looks like you found the right place.
MODERATOR /ADMINISTRATOR Find me at kirstie_h@edmunds.com - or send a private message by clicking on my name. 2015 Kia Soul, 2021 Subaru Forester (kirstie_h), 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 (mr. kirstie_h) Review your vehicle
and they can give you a quote for Honda Care. With Honda Care, everything is reimbursed straight to the dealer---any Honda dealer you want to get service at, your Honda Care is in their computer database. You don't even have to bring in your paperwork---it's tied to the VIN.
Who knows what has to be done with a third party warranty.
And with Honda Care, you get free roadside assistance for the life of the warranty beginning as soon as you buy it.
Hi. I am new to this forum, but I am in a quandry over which car to choose!
I currently own a Honda Accord Special edition 2002. We also have a Honda Civic 2003 so I would say we have been okay with Hondas.
However, we decided to look at both the 2011 Honda Accord and the Camry this weekend. I like the spacious feel of the Camry, and they're giving some pretty nice deals now, but I am S.C.A.R.E.D about the recent problems Toyota was having, and the manner in which they first dealt with said problems.
I would buy the Honda based on loyalty, but find the car seems a little bit smaller.
Salesman for Toyota gave me the usual talk about how much quieter the Camry is because of the extra padding in hood, trunk, and near the wheel areas. They actually had Honda Accord on the lot for people to compare theirs with the competition.
What I did not like about the Camry was the foot hand brake? Anyone have a problem with that?
Anyway, how safe do you think the Camry is in 2010/2011 compared to 2009?
Would anyone here be scared to buy a Toyota, or am I letting too much of the news bother me?

You'll find your choices will grow less and less as you approach the end of the standard 3 year, 36,000 miles standard warranty.
To understand this better, I'd request separate quotes from:

for a vehicle at 5,000, 15,000 and 25,000 miles and you can compare pricing and availability for the vehicles you are looking for.
What's a good price for a 7/100K or 8/120K or something in that range for a Honda Care Extended Warranty?
Thanks,
RH
Im taking bets now weather they'll have it??

and they can give you a quote for Honda Care.
I am frozen, literally about which to buy.
