Keeping the fob in the car rather than on your person is a bad idea for reasons too numerous to mention.

MM is a good candidate for a purse, or maybe a manbag.

I'm with Mike in my dislike of anything in my pockets while driving. I'm also with fordson in feeling squeamish at looking at the key fob in a cubby of a car with keyless ignition. We locked a fob in our car doing that, God knows how, it doesn't autolock when we are in the car. Fortunately it was in our own driveway with the other key in the unlocked house.

I still prefer keyed ignitions. Better mechanical interaction with the car, and it stores the key for you while driving.

All keyless cars I've been in will not allow the doors to lock if the key is in the car.

My experience mirrors allthingshonda... Having a second key on you, which is the active key for locking the car, is the only way to lock the key in a keyless car. Without the second key, they cycle the lock back to unlocked immediately--or if it's the trunk, the trunk releases right after it is shut.
