Hello, I have a 1999 dodge neon sport. My car tends to over heat after i have been driving for a while when i come to an idle for a while. When I start to go again though generally around 2500rpm my engine temp will go back down to normal running temp as long as i stay around that rpm range. I was told that this could be from a faulty thermostat. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what else this could be or if it is the thermostat?

Could be a bad T-stat, but first thing I wound check is coolant level

Coolant level is always important to be sure is correct, but the fact that it gets hot at idle and cools off once you start moving suggest the engine cooling fan might not be working. How hot does it get? Are there any other symptoms that we need to know about?
